huck finn paragraphs

1. Huck is influenced by tom, Jim, pap, and Widow Douglas in many ways. Tom sawyer influence’s Huck in many ways. Tom is hucks best friend and pretty much tells Huck what is right and wrong. Tom chills with Huck and huck chills with tom but I don’t think tom has the best influence because tom tries to do bad stuff like being a robber. Tom sawyer said “we are going to be robbers.” Page 5.


2. Widow Douglas influenced tom sawyer good. Widow Douglas told tom that smoking was bad and using improper English was bad. She said to him “don’t put your feet up there huckleberry, don’t scrunch up huck.” Page 2. And by doing that it made him a little more proper and gave him more pasture.

3. Pap was a bad influence to huck. Pap told huck horrible things and made him feel cruddy about himself. Pap locked huck up and would not come back for hours. Pap only wants huck for his money witch probably puts huck down. Pap had a knife in his had and put it under his arm and said “he would sleep and get strong and then we would see who was who. On page 22 paragraphs 3. Witch meant he was going to kill him.



4. Jim had a very good influence on huck because Jim was a good guy and had much knowledge. Jim liked huck and huck liked Jim and they became friends once ran away at the same time huck ran away ever since then the knowledge Jim has of slavery has been passed on to huck and huck does not have a problem with black people unlike everyone else. Jim said to huck “I reckon they robbed and killed the man in the house.” He said that to tell huck what probably happened when they found the house on the 3 mile island. That quote was on page 39 chapter x.

Racism.

1. “Why ain’t that n♣♦♦☻♠ auction up and sold?” – Pap.
Page 20 last paragraph. Paragraph 3. He basically said to sell the guy.

2.) What I got from this quote was that pap is very racist and does not like black people. I don’t see why I mean they did not ever do anything to him; he just thinks they are different because of their skin which is definitely not true. I think this quote was wrong and no body should think this way anymore because we all know now skin does not make a difference. I personally do not like what he said. I know he was drunk but still it was very racist. Even though the pap was drunk he should not have said that because the black guy was smarter then him and was free and had just as much of a right to vote as him. The relation ship from this and my life is different because pap does not like black people. But as for me I have a lot of black friends.

3.) I do not think Mark Twain likes pap because he makes pap the worst character in the book. I think he would not like that quote very much all though I do not think it would offend him at all. This probably relates to his life because of his trip down the Mississippi river because he probably heard a lot of racist sayings and words and maybe even some slavery going on more down south and even in the central maybe little northern parts.

1. yes i do think african americans and white americans do speak differently.

2. i think both are right i dont think a way of speach is wrong because thats how people talk.
